How it works


WHAT IS HELPING HAND CROWD

Helping Hand Crowd is an innovative and effective online medical fundraising website where you can raise money to pay off your or a loved one's medical bills.

STEP 1

Create your campaign
Personalize your campaign with a compelling story, video and pic. Set up fundraising goal and make it really clear why it's important for you to hit your goal. Here are some definitions on the campaign creation page that may help you:

Badge Summary
This summary is used on the campaign search badges to give a short description of the campaign. Maximum of 140 characters.

Rewards & Commitments
Rewards & Non-Monetary Commitments can be added by you, the campaign creator. The rewards have the options of setting a price, description, and providing a limited available amount. Commitments offer a title, description, and an optional limited number. Max of 20 rewards and 20 commitments per campaign. These can be edited / removed / added by you at anytime during their campaign as long as no one has already claimed it. After a reward or commitment has been claimed by a user, it cannot be edited or removed.

STEP 2

Share your campaign
Email a link to your campaign page to everyone you know. Email still works the best, but you want to share your pages at as many places as possible. Share it on all your social networks. Ask everyone you know to donate to your campaign. Ask two or three times. It's for a good cause.

STEP 3

Collect funds and pay off your debt
When you raise money for your campaign, and depending on your selection to either send money directly to you or your medical provider, we will send a check as soon as your goal has been reached.

Is my donation secure?

Helping Hand Crowd processes donations through WePay and Dwolla. WePay is not affiliated with Helping Hand Crowd. Both are PSI Level 1 Compliant and they offer best in class security. WePay, based in Palo Alto, CA processes transactions for over 250,000 merchants.

Do I need an account to make a donation?

You sign up for a Helping Hand account to make a donation. To sign up and make a donation to Helping Hand Crowd takes less than 40 seconds.

How do I make a hide my name from the public campaign page?

When you are ready to make a donation, click the CONTRIBUTE button and then select “I want my contribution to be anonymous” check box. Select your reward finalize your contribution. Your donation will show up on your campaign page under the name "Anonymous."

Is Helping Hand Crowd FREE?

It’s free to create a campaign page on Helping Hand Crowd. Helping Hand Crowd takes a modest fee of 5% before funds are sent to you or directly to your medical provider. The funds are used to deliver the most amazing online fundraising platform and give you such amazing services that you’ll feel compelled to tell everyone about Helping Hand Crowd. The credit card company also deducts their standard 2.9% + $0.30 fee from each transaction.

What are transaction fees?

When a donation is made through Helping Hand Crowd, we deduct a transaction fee so we don’t go out of business. Our pricing is very simple and extremely competitive. So, on a $100 donation, as much as $92 goes directly to you or your medical provider to pay of your medical bill, less the credit card fees charges by the credit card processor. The credit card processor charges a standard 2.9% + $0.30/donation.

Compared to the traditional ways of fundraising, Helping Hand Crowd is an inexpensive and efficient way to raise money for medical bills fundraising.

HOW DO YOU GET YOUR MONEY?

When do you get the money from Helping Hand Crowd?

Donors will make donations of their choice by using WePay or Dwolla. Both are PCI Level 1, secure credit card processing services. WePay send funds to Helping Hand Crowd who then sends a check to campaign holder or directly to their medical providers. The money is sent to the address that is on file.

How do I find a friend’s campaign on Helping Hand Crowd?

To find a Friend’s Campaign, use the Helping Hand Crowd search bar in the upper right corner of the website. It’s best to search by first and last name. If you need any help, please Contact us.

PHOTO QUESTIONS

Why can’t I upload a photo?

Please make sure that your photo is a maximum of 10mb. Please also ensure that the file is in any of the following formats: jpg, jpeg, gif or png. The bigger your photo, the longer it will take to upload but it should only take between 3 seconds to 1 minute to upload.

Why is my photo facing the wrong direction?

Make sure your photo is facing the right direction before you upload it. Mac computers will automatically turn your photo the correct direction on your computer , you should open the photo software on your computer to double check that your photo is actually facing the right direction, and then save it. They upload it to Helping Hand Crowd.

VIDEO QUESTIONS

How do I add a video to my fundraiser?

It’s super easy to add a video to your page if you know how to use YouTube or Vimeo. If you don’t know how to use YouTube or Vimeo, ask a friend, any high school student or ask us. To get your video on Helping Hand Crowd, first upload your video on YouTube or Vimeo. Then all you need to do is go to you campaign page on Helping Hand Crowd, go to your campaign page on Helping Hand Crowd, click Edit, and copy and paste the YouTube or Vimeo URL (web address) in the box. In the video section. Then hit the SAVE button and your video will appear.

SHARING MY CAMPAIGN

How do I get my friends to support my campaign?

If you ask your friends to support you, they will. Ask two or three times if you have to. Be persistent. It’s for a good cause. We recommend setting a goal for your campaign and keeping everyone you know updated on how close you are to your goal. They’ll want to help you get there if you give them a reason why it’s important to you. Emailing a link from whatever email program you use everyday will always work the best. Make the email personal. It works very well. In addition to emailing, a link to your fundraiser, share it on all your social networks. To make it easy, you can got to the campaign page and click any of the social icons. Be sure to thank every donor as quickly as possible. It goes a long way.

CAMPAIGN OVERVIEW

You can edit, approve, delete, see contributors, refund payments, and more all from your Helping Hand Crowd account. The following list is an overview of campaign options:

Campaign Title

The title of the campaign appears on the campaign badge and the tagline section beneath the white section at the top of the page.

Video or Image

You can offer Vimeo, Youtube, or an Image for the main campaign video/image. Choose which ones you want to offer on the configuration section of your account. For detailed information about this section, see above.

Fundraising Goal

The amount of money you hope to raise. Must be greater than $5.

Campaign Duration

How long the campaign will be live for. You can set this as Limited, Never ending, or whatever you decide to select.

Badge Summary

This summary is used on the campaign search badges to give a short description of the campaign. Maximum of 140 characters.

Location

Allows you to enter the location of their campaign. To enable this, go to Configuration > Location Enabled and check the Campaigns box.

This text area uses Markdown for formatting and is where you tell the world about their campaign.
